What makes a music icon?
is it the number of hit singles or party jamz that an artiste has released?
is it the number of years that one has spent in the game?
To me, the criterion to determining a music icon is the personality, charisma, style, achievements and influence such artiste has on the younger generation.
In the Nigerian scene, many artiste though with numerous hit tracks have not been able to achieve that iconic figure,
there are however few who have done well for themselves, but then, two{2} of the few have stood out among thgeir peers;
- Innocent 'tuface' Idibia
from 'African Queen' 'noi be small thing' 'enter the place' 'implication'{just to name a few} to the recently chinese song, this artiste just has a way of talking to the souls of his listeners.
His lyrics speaks to the old, young, the weak and strong hearted, everyone.
He is a street preacher who uses his music to speak to his followers.
"Nobody send you, if you wanna kpia, you kpia"
TIUALE TU BABA!
- Dbanj!
The "koko master" or ski banj as his Jamaican friends call him, sure knows how to keep the fans loving him more and more, from "scape goat" to "Mr endowed" to "oliver twist", the artiste has a way of keeping the fans entertained.
Whether we like it or not, Mr Endowed has become a house hold product that will last long in the Nigerian music industry.
Big Bros! as u dey Good music, abeg no fall our hand....TIUALE!
